A Huge Widow and LOTS of Jewelry

I was taking out my trash tonight when I found a HUGE black widow next to the front door. I had just picked up a UPS package left on my stoop, so I was grateful the spider was where she was! 

I get one in that same spot year after year and kill several a year there. I don't know why they love that spot so much, but it is a bit frustrating that it is by the front door as sometimes one will get into the house. 

It has been such a moist year with rain nearly daily, that we have got LOTS of spiders everywhere. I sprayed faithfully a few years back as I had them so bad the year before that, but I have not been good this year! 

I spent much of the day sorting through 7 or 8 bags of jewelry. Each bag takes between 40 and 70 minutes to video and this time I was making some "shorts" as well as the actual sorting videos. I also have been taking photos and it has taken me 7 hours or so and that is just for the sorting and videos, not for putting them in bags and cleaning up. I have sequins and beads everywhere. 

It is 6:30 a.m. and I have things this afternoon, so I want to get some sleep.

Last Bag Of Jewelry This Round - Sterling Rings

For the last bag of jewelry I got a few weeks back, there were some large sterling silver rings. One was a sterling silver class ring with Blue Topaz as a stone in the middle. 

Another of the rings was a very large sterling ring but it was so shiny and had scrapes on it so I wonder if it is sterling. 

The bag also had lots of clip on earrings and I was sharing in the video about how most clip on costume jewelry isn't worth much unless it is a vintage designer like Haskell, or if they are made in West Germany. 

Right after I tell about that in the video, I find a fun pair of clip on earrings from West Germany! Looking online, many of them sell for between $20 to $50. I think I may put them online and see how much I can get for them. 

I found a few things I liked in the bag as well. I have a necklace that matches a ring I found in the bag, and I also found some earrings that match a necklace my mother gave me many years ago. It was fun finding those and I love that going through each bag is like a treasure hunt!

Lots Of Native American Jewelry and a Horn Belt

I shared yesterday that I found several bags of jewelry a few weeks back and that I finally was able to get to making videos of them this week. 

One of the bags was full of Native American items and I could see that there was one item that was made of deer or elk horn and leather. I could also see that there were some silver items that were decorative horse items. 

I opened the bag and found some really well done native beaded items. There was a beautiful belt buckle and my favorite was the antler and leather belt. They cut slices of the horn and then lined them up wider in the middle and then smaller towards the edges. It was really fun!

I looked online and the belt buckles are all over the place as for price. I think they sell on design and uniqueness. 

It was the first time I have gotten so much Native American jewelry together. I have gotten a few items over the years, but not together and really nice. 

It was a good bag and the best part was that I got it two for one price for $20 with the bag I shared about yesterday.

Lots of Gold and Silver in a Broken Jewelry Grab Bag for $20

I found a few good bags of jewelry a few weeks back. I didn't have time to go through them before going to the lake. 

I made a video and the video of this for some reason got corrupted, so there is just a follow up video showing the great finds of 10 and 14 Karat Gold and some silver as well. 

I got it in a two for one deal with some native American Jewelry that wasn't marked. I paid $20 for both. 

Going through these bags is always like a treasure hunt.

Three Bags of Jewelry - What a Mess

I was able to buy three bags of  jewelry last week but haven't been able to go through the three bags because I was camping with my kids. 

I made videos opening each bag and for some reason, the video didn't take of the second bag somehow. Of course, it was the bag with all the gold in it. Anyway, it takes about an hour a bag and then redid just a review video of the one that didn't take. 

Anyway, I am tired and am going to bed and didn't get a blog done due to that taking a long time. I will have to bag and clean it up after getting some sleep.

14 Karat Gold and Lots Of Silver in Thrift $25 Bag

I did another video of a bag I purchased awhile back that had gold and silver in it. I was glad to be able to get it as they don't always have them and not many bags in the past few months. 

It is so fun to go through the bags finding treasures. I feel blessed. I wish this bag had all of the sets or matching pairs of the earrings and cuff-links.

There were lots of "single" items in the bag. I actually carried a little baggie of the singles to the store after that to ask if they had the matching pieces. I never actually got to talk to the jewelry person as she had some acute illness so I realized just recently that I had it in the bottom of my purse pocket and I wondered why my purse was so heavy! ha ha. 

On a funny note, I found that I had FIVE protein bars in the bottom of my purse as well! So that is why it was so heavy. I was having low blood sugar about two days after I took them all out of my purse, and laughed that I didn't have one to eat. 

I am so blessed to live in a small town where there isn't as much competition for the bags!

Sterling items in A $25 Thrift Store Grab Bag

I bought a thrift store grab bag for $25 and I took a video of my finds. I got several sterling silver necklaces and a bracelet as well as a few other things I liked in the bag. I was glad to find the bags as they haven't had a ton in the past few months. 

I am grateful that they are starting to get more jewelry out and that I am finding silver again!

3 Sterling Tiffany and Co. Bracelets and More Sterling for $25 Thrift Store Find

 

I went to one of the local thrift stores in town this week. There hasn't been any good jewelry for a month or two. 

There was a guy that was buying a bag when I arrived and was leaving and I saw this bag and the first thing I saw was the three tarnished bracelets and could see that they said Tiffany on them. I didn't look much further to tell them I would like to buy the bag as I wanted it for sure. 

I bought a second bag and wasn't able to go through them for a few days. I was really happy when I went through the bag and found three bracelets from Tiffany and Co. I was happy to also find more sterling in the bag.

Gold and Silver in $20 Thrift Jewelry Bag

I found another great jewelry bag at the local thrift store. I feel so blessed to be able to find these bags and am so thrilled that I have this opportunity. 

I think if I lived in a larger city, I wouldn't be able to visit the thrift stores daily within a few minutes. I also would be competing with so many other people in a large city. 

I ran into a lady who has been buying them and shared that she got a $150 men's 14 Karat wedding ring she sold to the local pawn shop. She ended up trading for three women's rings she liked. She has bought many while I have been there. 

She actually works there, so she has the advantage that way, but I still check regularly and have been blessed to get so many wonderful bags.

Gold and Silver in $25 Grab Bag and Sterling Salt and Pepper for $4

 

I have shared that things are great at the main thrift store in town! I am getting lots of silver and gold. 

Things have been great and I feel so blessed that I have been able to find a way to give myself some emergency preparedness items in a way I can afford. Silver and gold are natural antibiotics and can also be traded in an emergency.

So in this grab bag, there was a 14 karat gold necklace, and lots of silver again! It is so fun looking into bags when I know there is something in them, and then finding so much more than I thought was in them.

Lots of Silver in a $20 Grab Bag

I am trying to catch up on some jewelry posts. I decided to do that this week so I can get some things done and actually post some videos that I have already made. I think even after doing that this week, I will still have lots of unpublished videos from a long time ago, but these videos this week are all recent and good finds.

With that, I am posting some jewelry videos and posts this week. I was going to try posting them a few weeks back but am going to post them for the next few days so I don't have to worry about sharing while we are visiting. 

This jewelry bag had lots of silver and some of the chains were quite thick and heavy so YEA for that! 

Well worth $20!

SUPER GREAT Jewelry Bag for $25 GOLD and Lots of SILVER

I have shared for the past few months that the jewelry in the thrift store in town is now being put out and I have gotten lots of fun items. 

Almost every bag I have gotten has had gold and silver in it. They have ranged from $10 to $25. They have had tons more bags, but I have only been buying the bags that I KNOW have gold or larger amounts of silver. 

I have also shared with so many people about it over the years that there are quite a few people buying the bags now. It is something you have to check daily to find the bags. 

This bag had lots of silver necklaces in it. It also had silver pins that are hilarious. They are weird looking deer pins. 

It had a large 14 Karat gold necklace. The necklace alone is worth more than the entire bag, but it is really amazing to have had so much silver as well. 

I feel blessed to have this way to get emergency prep items at a cost I can afford.

Great Thrift Find 14 K Wedding Band $30

I went to one of the local thrift stores, and have been checking recently every day at that thrift store as they have the new jewelry people and they are putting out so much jewelry. 

I met a woman there the other day who I have seen buying bags regularly while there. I was looking at bags, and she said she got a men's wedding ring in the bag that the local pawn shop paid her $150 for. The bag was $25. That is a good find. 

I then noticed after she said that, there was a ring in a bag to the side by itself. I usually don't pay much notice to the side bags as they haven't put gold in those usually. I decided to pull it out of the locked case and look at it with the help of a worker and he allowed me to pull it out of the bag so I could look at it with my jewelers loop. 

I was thrilled to see it was 14 karat gold and is a men's ring so is a bit larger. It was $30 and I had the thought that for $5 more than a jewelry bag, I get a nice 14 K gold ring, and not have to sort through a jewelry bag. 

I bought the ring and came home and weighed it. I was .29 ounce. 

When you look up the gold calculator for 14 karat and that ounce weight, the ring is over $300 of gold! I LOVE that the new people at the thrift store are putting out the gold and silver! It is like a treasure hunt every day dropping there as I run my errands.

14 Karat Gold and Lots of Sterling in a $20 Thrift Grab Bag

I am SO excited about the new ladies working at the thrift store in town. Every week she is putting new jewelry out. She puts five or six bags out a week. 

I have missed lots of bags, but I have lucked out getting about six different bags over the past month or so and each of them had at least one piece of gold and silver in each. 

The other things, is that each of the bags has at least one good piece it in, however, I don't want to spend $20 or $25 a bag for one piece of silver, so I have been holding out and only buying the bags that have some gold in them or lots of silver. 

Even the smaller $10 bags lately have had some gold that she may not realize is real, such as cheap Disney, or Olympic pin bags, but then I find a real gold pin of 14 karat gold, that is a big score for $10 depending how large of a pin it is. 

I still have jewelry bag videos from a long time ago I haven't posted, so I am going to try to get all these new videos out this week if I can as it takes me a bit of time to get them posted on YouTube. I have spent lots of time on a project this weekend and hope I can figure it out tomorrow and maybe post that this week as well. 

In this $20 bag, I got one larger 14 karat necklace that is trashed for wearing, but as far as gold value it is well over $20! There were also many pieces of sterling silver which themselves are over $20 in value. 

I feel so grateful to have a new person at the thrift store which makes treasure hunting so much fun!

14 Karat Gold and Sterling Silver for $10 in a Kids Jewelry Grab Bag

I am LOVING having a few new workers at our local thrift shop. It is amazing to me what one negative person can do to a working environment. 

It is also amazing what one or two POSITIVE people can do to an environment. I love going in to the store now and visiting with the workers. It is like it was a few years back when everyone was friendly and happy. 

I have shared with those friends who used to shop there that things have changed as many of them stopped shopping there do to the grumpy worker. They are slowly coming back to shop there as things change. 

I have been able to get four or more jewelry bags with gold and silver since the new people are there. They are so friendly and will give me an idea when new jewelry bags and collectables will be coming out.

I found a little bag that was $10 and was full of kid type jewelry and I almost overlooked it as junk, but on more than one occasion I have found silver and gold jewelry stuck on kids jewelry in those type of bags, so now I take a closer look before passing over those type of bags. 

I found 14 Karat gold earrings, and three different silver items in the bag. Very good finds for $10.

14 Karat Gold Pin and Sterling Necklace in a $10 bag

 

I am so excited that there are two new people working at the local thrift store! I have talked to both women and last week twice, they brought out jewelry while I was there and both asked me if I would like to look at the bags of jewelry before they put them in the display case. 

One lady asked me specifically what I like and am looking for and said she could bag them all differently and asked my opinion on how they could be bagged to work for the store as lots of the bags hadn't sold. 

I shared that the watches and sea shell lays have been bagged individually by group in the past so that people who are looking for watches will buy them. I also shared that the larger bags are now half what they used to be for the same price so I would love if they would fill up the bags a bit more. 

Every bag there had al least one piece of silver, but I don't want to pay $25 for one piece of silver, however, they had one smaller bag for $10 which had a silver necklace wrapped around several pins and there were some Disney pins and Olympic pins so I figured for the $10 I could sell some of the pins and then the silver itself was worth $10. Its a nice heavy chain. 

I did see a pin in my quick look that looked to be gold, but I didn't have time to get into the bag at the store. When I got to that pin, the clasp wasn't expensive so I thought maybe it was gold filled. But, it is 14 Karat gold. I had to do some studying up on the pin. It is a men's organization out of CA. 

I couldn't find another like it anywhere on any search and by the clasp, I think it is quite old. So, the bag was really worth the $10 I paid. 

I am so happy that things are starting to look up on the jewelry front. I was also able to get 2 silver bracelets and some large silver clip on earrings at the other thrift store in town for $0.50 each. All good buys.

$20 Grab Bag with LOTS of 14 Karat Gold and Sterling Silver as Well

 Last year just after Valentines Day, I got a few bags of Jewelry. My grand-daughter was having a "princess ball" and due to COVID, it was canceled. 

They asked everyone to dress up and join them in an online dance party. Several of the aunts and uncles and other cousins joined in the dance party. 

I decided to go all out and dressed up in what I could as a princess and enjoyed her dance party.
I figured while I was dressed up, I would do a few jewelry videos. I can't tell you how many jewelry videos I made that never got posted. 

Every so often, I go back and look at some of my videos that haven't been posted and realized I have LOTS of videos on all sorts of things that haven't been posted yet. Some haven't been uploaded, some have been uploaded and just not posted. 

When I looked at this video, I was kinda sad it didn't get posted as it had LOTS of 14 Karat gold that is actually pretty and wearable, as well as some sterling silver and some gold plated silver. 

The nice thing is that it was only $20 for the entire bag. After that, the price went up and the bags had less in them and there was never anything of value in them. For an entire year there was nothing in any bags so I was happy to find some recently now that she has left the store. 

I think she dug through what was there so it may take some time for new items to be donated as the bags they have brought out recently since she left have been fairly junky. 

This bag had at least four bigger pieces of 14 Karat Gold and 2 pieces of sterling silver. What a fun bag for $20.

Another Jewelry Bag Video - Hoping For More Soon

I am so excited that the lady working at the thrift store retired and isn't working there anymore.  

The manager told me they have lots of jewelry and that they will be putting more out soon and are bagging it right now! 

It will be interesting to see if the bags have more gold and silver now that she isn't around. I already got one bag with silver and gold since she left so I am hoping things will be more exciting now!

Catching Up on Jewelry Videos

I was reviewing my YouTube uploads and found that I have several jewelry videos that have not been published that I took and uploaded.

I thought today would be a good day to post one. I had a long day catching up with Princess Four who had a wonderful trip to New York. I may post about that next week. 

I got this bag months ago at a thrift store and since there haven't been jewelry bags that are good for years, I figured she missed this bag with the large bracelet as it wasn't marked in a normal way. 

I am always happy to find large and heavy pieces of silver or gold.

14 Karat White Gold Necklace and Silver in $25 Grab Bag

I got some really good new recently. The main thrift store in town where I have purchased most of my jewelry for the past 25 years has had some changes! 

I was visiting with the manager a few weeks back and he gave me so great news. He told me that the woman that took over and was doing the jewelry at the store would be leaving! 

She trained a new woman to do her job and the first week the new lady took over, there were bags of jewelry just grabbed a handful and stuck the items into a bag. The bags are a bit more empty than the other ladies bags, and she put more things out individually for sale, but not knowing how things sell and being new to the job, she put individual smaller items for $5, $10, and $20.

There were a few bags that had good items in them and I got one and a few other people bought some so I know that they had some good items in them. 

This week, the manager put all the individual items in a bag to sell and mentioned they had a TON of jewelry in the back that needs to be put out and the new girl is on vacation, so he said he would try to get some bags out next week! 

I can't tell you how happy this new situation makes me! I hope this is going to make going shopping everyday worthwhile!

This first bag, I was able to find a 14 Karat white gold necklace and a sterling necklace and square charm. 

I was also able to find a pretty cameo that I like and would potentially wear in the bag! 

I am hoping that the new woman will fill the bags a bit fuller and not make them so expensive, but at least there is an option to maybe get something of value in the bags! Oh happy day!
