Headache Day - Jewelry Sorting Video

I have shared with you that I have had a long week with lots of rain and some headaches but I woke in the night with a super horrific headache.

I could barely get up today. I went right to the medicine cabinet and took some pills hoping I could just sleep it off but the nausea was so bad that I threw up the pills and took a few more and tried falling asleep to sleep it off but once again went and threw up. I was feeling so horrible that I went back to bed hoping to sleep and I had off and on sleeping with pain and I was so grateful when Princess Five came home from work and rubbed some oils on my feet.

I was finally able to fall asleep for a few minutes and then was super hungry but still having head pain and nausea but having thrown up everything from last nights dinner and nothing today, I was super shaky.

I am posting a jewelry sorting video and hoping I can get some good sleep tonight. I finally ate something and then took some pills hoping that I could get rid of the nausea.

I hope you have a Blessed Day!

Filling in a Low Neckline Shirt for a T-Shirt Quilt

I spent the weekend working on Princess Five's Broadway Musical tee shirt quilt. It was raining all weekend and I normally prune my fruit trees this weekend every year but since I couldn't work in the yard, I happily finished stitching all the extras on the quilt squares and finished my label square on her quilt.

There were lots of shirts that we found that had school names or dates for the show on the front of the shirts. Princess Five didn't want to have any dates or production names on any of her shirts so that meant I had to do a little sewing surgery on those squares.

I would cut off the squares about 3/4 of an inch down into the lettering she didn't want and then cut out any words on the extra portion of the shirt and then pin the blank left over portion of the shirt back onto the first cut and stitch them back together and the small portion of the words that were left would be in the seam so I would just have the front of the shirt showing the show logo and then just a plain front so all the extra little words were now gone.

I had to do that on about 10 of the shirts and it wasn't hard, it was just time consuming and then I had to change the color of thread to match the shirt as well so while I had the different colored thread on the machine, I sewed the neck / shirt tags and logos onto the "tag" square which I started doing a few quilts back as the tags on the branded shirts were so cute. Here is a link to the Snoopy tag square I did. This link shows a picture of the Super Hero tag square.

I usually save that square until I am through cutting all the squares to size and probably should have as with the storms, my head is a bit fuzzy and I didn't leave a large enough seam allowance around the edges of that square and actually cut a few quilt shirt fronts short as I usually try and center the logo but in my fogginess, I cut too much off the top on a few and had a huge area at the bottom and no seam allowance on the top edges of a few squares.

It is so hard when I want to get something done and the health makes me not be able to function as well as I would like but for the most part, I finished sewing anything needing sewing on each square and got all the squares cut to the right height and considering there are about 40 squares on the quilt, that is getting lots done.

Now, I just need to cut the squares to the right width making all the rows match up and the squares in the row line up. It takes a bit of math skills in geometry to align all the squares up and cut of just the right amount in each row. I usually fold down the edges making the rows all look even and lined up before cutting anything so that I make sure that all the shirts in the row won't have something cut off to fit. We usually put all the tall shirts in one row so we can make that a center row on the quilt and then go down in size by row. I usually like to mix skinny and tall rows in through the quilt but she wants the smaller rows at the bottom and her favorite shirts in the center so that is what we are doing.

I made a video of me showing how to fill in a neckline on a shirt that has a low neck. I have done this with other t-shirts on different quilts by just putting a piece of the back of the shirt in the neck and sewing but this "Lion King" quilt was a bit harder as we wanted to include some of the print so I cut off some of the sleeves to use in filling the neckline for this t-shirt quilt square and I think it came out super cute.

Watch the video and let me know if you have any questions. I am happy to be finally working on the quilt and getting it done and want to finish it before Princess Five heads out for her mission in just under a month. I have so much going on but am excited for her to have this before she goes. She keeps telling me how excited she is about it and how cute it is looking. I can see she is super happy with all the squares we were able to find and I think it will be something she will always enjoy.

Thanks for watching. Have a Blessed Day!

Finding the Artist Or His Family

I was at a second hand store a few months back and found this piece of art framed for $4. I have found other pieces of art there many times and not purchased it but for some reason, I felt like I should buy this and try to find someone related to the artist.

It may be that I have a painting of my mother out there that I want to find and hope at some point someone will try and find me offering it to me, or perhaps it is the note on the back saying it is "the old smith house" and an address and city along with the artists name and date of 1954 on it.

I tried finding any other art from the artist and failed to find anything so don't know that the person was an artist but it could have been something he did for a class or something but either way, I searched online and found a few people with a similar name and wrote them asking if their dad or grandfather lived in that city or was an artist as I would love to find this print a home. I think it is kinda "spooky" and fun for Halloween coming up but really don't want to keep it. I figured for the $4 I paid for it, it was a gamble that I would be able to find someone who would be related to the artist.

If not, I can say I tried and donate it back to the second hand shop and maybe someone will like it as art for their home but it isn't something I would hang up in my house.

Let me know if it looks familiar to you! Have a Blessed Day!

Finally Working on Princess Five's Broadway Quilt

I have been fighting a headache again. We have had thunder storms on and off over the past few days and have that forecast for the next few days.

Since I can't work in the yard pruning, which I usually do around this time every year, I told Princess Five that I would really like to finish her Broadway t-shirt quilt that we started collecting for a few years back.

I thought I would have it done by now but there were still musicals that she wanted included and so we would lay it out and think we were going to start it but then we would find another shirt or two and pack it up and think I would get it started soon.

Princess Two lives in a large city and keeps checking second hand stores for musical shirts. I personally haven't looked at shirts at a second hand store in months thinking we had enough but yesterday I thought I should check a few racks to see if there were any more and was so happy to find "The Music Man" and "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" shirts for a few dollars each.

A few months back, Princess Two found this "Matilda" shirt and we were excited to find the "Hamilton" shirt when shopping together a few months ago.

It has been fun collecting all these cute shirts. Two of the other girls said I could continue to find musicals shirts and make them a quilt at some point. I am truly amazed at the amount of shirts we have been able to find representing so many wonderful shows!

There were a few shirts from musicals we found that I don't like and think are a bit raunchy which we didn't want, so we didn't buy them. I am really happy with all the shirts we were able to get.

We found enough to make this into a king sized quilt which would be a bed spread for smaller beds and hang to the ground. We spent the night last night laying out all the shirts and finding spots to put the new shirts. Since the last time we put it out to start sewing, we found about five more shirts and it was exciting that some that we found were some she really wanted.

It has been fun figuring out how she wants it laid out and I can tell she is getting excited now that I am starting to cut and sew squares. Hopefully we can get it finished quickly and I can check another thing off my list!

Have a Blessed Day!

More Unique Art I Love - Guitar from Household Items

I forgot to show you this wonderful guitar piece of art. I took pictures of it awhile back and forgot to post it. I have been fighting a headache for the past week on and off so I am glad that I had this to post as I have been dealing with that and fatigue this week.

Isn't this guitar just about the coolest!?! The knife handle, salt shaker top and chainsaw chain around the edge just grabbed me the minute I walked into the room. I wonder if it actually plays though because the other instruments on the wall really are playable so perhaps it really does play. I forgot to ask if it really played.
I love everything about the guitar. The way they took all discarded items and put them into something that is such a creative piece of art.

I hope you have a Blessed Day!

Getting Something Out of the Gas Tank Feed Line / Hose

As you know, I have been working on my trailer. I posted several things recently about polishing my trailer and fixing leaks etc.

I took and stored my trailer and brought my suburban home and it had over half a tank of gas in it. I live on a dark street in a small town and for some reason, so many times over the past 20 years, someone syphons gas out of our cars. Two of our cars gas floats have been damaged so we can't tell how much gas we have.

Years back, I put a lock on my suburban tank. I locked the doors on my car but I guess that didn't lock the back doors and someone stole several things out of the car and I kept a gas tank key in the glove box. Well, they took that key and every time I get in it to use it, it is empty.

When I brought it home from storing the trailer, it had over $50 in gas still in the tank. I have a gas syphon pump so I filled a few gas cans and filled both of our cars with gas from the suburban but when I pulled out the syphon pump, the tube disconnected and left the hose inside the gas line to the gas tank.

I called my mechanic asking him what I should do as I knew it had a rubber stopper at the end and having that in the gas over time would disintegrate and maybe gum up the fuel system as I don't use it but a few times a year.

I LOVE my mechanic, he is such a good man and helps me so many times over the years. He suggested I go buy a little tool that has a clamp hand on the bottom of it and you push the pump action at the top and the little metal clamps come out and then grab the item and then you can pull it out. He wasn't sure where one would be but thought Ace may sell one. He told me if that didn't work, there was a hose that goes into the gas tank that can be undone and we could take that off and get to the hose as it was probably still stuck in that line.

I found the cool little tool at Ace for under $5 and it was really kind of fun to play with and could be useful to get items behind the dresser or dryer. My mechanic said his disappeared one day so I think I will give the tool to him. Anyway, I tried to use the tool but the flap on the tank opening kept closing down so when I tried to pull the tool out, it kept getting caught and since I couldn't see the tube so it was just guessing at where to try it. It only took one or two tries for me to know it wouldn't work.

I then looked under the car and saw that the hose was just held on by a screw clamp so instead of having to take it to the mechanic and pay him to do it, I just climbed under the car and did it myself. I took a video showing how easy it was. I got the hose off and I pulled it down to look and the syphon tube was right inside that rubber hose. I used a screw driver to get the hose out of the gas-line hose as it wasn't that far into the hose.

I put it back and clamped it on again and I was surprised how easy it was. I have never done much under a car before so that was fun. I am grateful I didn't have to take it to the mechanic.

It is amazing to me how many things I have learned to do over the years due to not having the funds to hire someone to do it. It was nice to be able to fill Princess Five's car as well as mine with the gas that would have been lost saving me two fill ups at the gas station and finishing the trailer and getting it stored and ready for winter. I LOVE getting things off my "to do" list!

Have a Blessed Day!

Nature Bright Sun Touch Skyeffect Mood Light and Ionizer Blessing - God Loves Me

I recently wrote a post about purchasing a Skyeffect mood enhancing light before going to visit Princess One when she had her baby earlier this year. Here is a link to that post.

I love how God gives me blessings. So many time in my life when I thought I was going to help someone out, I end up getting something I wanted or needed by doing service. I was helping a friend clean a stove in her rental. The stove was newer and nicer than the one I owned. I thought how I would love a new whirlpool stove as I had an old stove but started giving gratitude that I had a stove and a house to put a stove in.

I went to my sisters after helping my friend and my brother-in-law asked if I knew anyone that needed a new stove. He had just been helping a family move into his neighborhood from out of state and the house they purchased had a drop in stove top so they had a nearly new Whirlpool stove in white they needed to get rid of. I told him I had just been cleaning my friends rental stove and thought I would like a new stove. We went over and looked at it and the people just gave it to me as they didn't know what to do with it and had enough to worry about so instead of selling it, they paid it forward for the move in help.

I then said to my sisters husband, "Now I just needed to find a white stove hood as my stove was off-white." He told me he had one in the garage as they just installed an "over the stove" microwave and within an hour or two of that moment of helping someone, I got a new stove and hood for free.

Many times in my life I have had similar situations when I go somewhere to help and in the end, they give me something I wanted or liked. The food bank is also similar to this. I often have dropped things off for donation and they had extra fruit or had more of something they could use and because I was doing service, I ended up with things I enjoy or need.

This past weekend I was helping a friend. Her husband's leg was amputated. I went over a few days this week and her son told me they were looking for a chair that lifts up and helps people stand from sitting. I wanted to purchase them some couch covers to go over the furniture so before I headed over to clean the next day, I stopped at a yard sale down the street from my house. I rarely go to yardsales anymore as I don't need much with just me being home. The first thing I notice at the sale is one of those lift chairs! I ask how much they want and they tell me $20. I ask if they don't sell it, would they consider donating to my friend. She told me she would.

I called them a few hours later and she told me we could have it and I could pick it up. I told her I would need to call around to find a truck. She told me her brother would probably be willing to deliver it the few blocks to the house of my friend. She wasn't still at the yard sale but told me to run up and talk to the brother. I do that and I gave them an address and told them we would take it in the front door rather than the side door.

I am cleaning the house and wondered what was taking them so long as I had moved the chair in the front room and was ready for them. I was mopping in one of the kids rooms and came out a bit later and the chair was in the spot. They just brought it in and left! I thought it was so sweet! I adjusted it a little and then took a video of it moving and sent it to my friend who was in another city at the hospital with her husband.

While going to a few other yard sales looking for couch covers, I saw this brand new in the box Skyeffect mood light EXACTLY like the one I compared in that post and video a few months back. She had a $15 price on it and I asked if she would take less for it. She said she would and I offered her $5 and she told me she would take it. I asked if it worked and she told me that her friend purchased it for her and she never even plugged it in!

I was THRILLED with the find as my kitchen is at the back of the house and doesn't get direct light so I was excited as I enjoyed having the light on at Princess Ones home while I was cooking during the day. I didn't realize how much light effected me. I thought about buying one and the girls offered to purchase one but I didn't want to spend money on a new one as things have been tight and being summer, I didn't need it working in the yard etc. But, I love that God provided one for me for a reasonable price when I woke early to go help a friend in need. He always takes such good care of me and now that the season is changing, I would want it more than in the summer as I always crave the light when it gets cold and snows as I can't seem to get warm and when it gets dark early, I yearn for the sun!

I know it isn't a big thing to others but this type of thing happens in my life so often.... I am so blessed. I hope you are also recognizing the blessings He gives you in your life!

Let's all have a Blessed Day!
