Taking Donations To The Food Bank

Yesterday, I finally loaded up the rest of the stuff to donate from my house and my neighbors house and took them to the food bank. They were closed but I needed them gone so I stuck them to the side of the building.

They usually stick things people can take on the side of the building and they don't usually leave clothes and things there. Today I found a few things that went with some of the stuff I donated. I drove over to drop it off and 8 of the ten boxes I dropped off were gone. However, there were about 8 new boxes and bags of baby clothes someone dropped off.

Whoever dug through the stuff left it a mess and there was a wind storm and dirt was all over and things were blowing out of bags. I spent a few minutes and cleaned up the mess and put them under as far as I could so that if it rained, which it did, that it was safe from the wet and dirt.

I am happy to get everything out and organize the house better. I am still not through going through my own stuff but am continuing to work as I can. It feels good to get things done.

Have a Blessed day!

Selling off Memories and Belongings - Still Cleaning House

Today I sold off our Christmas dishes and my Chargers for my Thanksgiving set. I haven't used them in years and now the girls are all away from home and Princess One only spends one Christmas in three with me spending one with her husbands family, one with her little family, and then one with me.

It was a little emotional selling those "dreams" of large holiday gatherings together but being realistic I have to realize that my girls will be moving on and I doubt that they will all be coming home for the holidays.

When my siblings and I got married, we had to start having a dinner potluck for the holidays as we grew in size.

When the girls do come home for the holidays, we are so busy that we use paper plates so that I am not running the dishwasher each meal.

It feels good to clean the house out and let go of the past. It was also nice to have some funds in my pocket!

Have a blessed day and stay safe!

Selling Online and Finally Through Going Through The Boxes

I posted most of my stuff online for sale from my neighbors house the past few days, and will post the rest tonight. I have sold most of the big things and have made over $100.

My house is still a bit of a mess as I have people picking things up, and whatever is left at the end of the week, I will take it to the food bank to donate.

I was glad I went through the boxes that she packed as I found some family pictures of their time living in South America and some other personal stuff. I have dropped things off from the boxes every day, but as she is headed out of town, I was glad to get through the rest of the stuff today.

It is frustrating that people say they are coming to pick things up and actually don't come, but it is great that we can still sell things and make some extra money. I didn't think people would spend money during this crazy isolation time for fear of not having more money coming in, but it has been pleasantly surprising that people are buying things.

I am glad to have that stuff done and still need to finish a few other projects before Princess Five gets home, but I have been working on them slowly.

Have a Blessed Day and I hope you are still being safe!

Organizing the Basement and Storage Rooms Part 2

I wanted to share the final results of the other storage rooms in my neighbors basement. I shared a video of part one for the two storage rooms. The larger one with shelves and the smaller food storage rooms.

I cleaned and organized another huge storage room and a medium sized storage room. She had 3 huge mattress sets in one of the rooms and lots of her daughters belongings. She also had the medium room filled with all the items from her mothers estate.

This woman is at least 80 and I can only imagine how long the items have been in that room. She wanted them but has never known what to do with them. I was able to put them into a usable form.

By organizing the rooms and stacking the totes and boxes. I then suggested rather than storing the mattresses vertical, we could actually use the beds to sleep her family when they visit because she has six or seven air mattresses and they sleep in the same room with others.

My thought was by organizing those storage rooms, using the mattresses, that they could then have two more bedrooms for company when her kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren come to stay.

I have been sorting through the stuff I pulled out and donating it to different groups as I think it could help at the woman shelter, and the food bank. I dropped a few things off at friends homes today that I thought they would appreciate.

I have another load to go to the food bank tomorrow. I hope that I can finish up cleaning and organizing my home in the next few days for the return of Princess Five.

I made a video of the storage rooms so I could she it but was sad I didn't take pictures or videos before I started working on the rooms.

Have a Blessed day and stay safe!

Last Week In NY for Princess Five

Here's your Daily quote for the week.

Hey everybody!! Not a whole lot of new stuff this week but it was good:)

We are still stuck in isolation but things are starting to loosen up! They opened up the parks! Not that we've gone, but hey that's still fun!

Oh my gosh the weather has been so nice here!! We've spent so much time outside enjoying the beautiful weather!

We got to take the sacrament! This is only the second time of isolation but it was awesome! We got to drive to the end of our area and go to the Bishop's house and take it with him and his family. Man I miss people so much. We had to leave right after but, I would have loved to stay.

Our friends are doing really good. It has been hard because a lot of them are struggling financially and they keep reaching out to us for help and it just breaks my heart that I can't help them. Please pray for them.

We made a new friend this week. His name is Lee. We met him on Facebook and he is really solid! He likes reading in the Book of Mormon and even came to our Sunday School call! We are excited to see how he keeps doing!

Josie s doing well. Poor lady though! She cut off the tip of her thumb so that has been a painful process. We taught her the law of tithing and fasting this week though and she really liked it and even committed to fasting! We love her so much, she has hands down been the biggest blessing from isolation.

That's about all but I love you all! Sending hugs and little Korean finger hearts!

Cleaning and Organizing a Storage Room

The last week I spent four full ten hour days and one half day helping my neighbor clean her basement.

We were able to organize her four storage rooms during that time. I hauled four car loads of donations out of her basement. I was also able to get several things for my girls as well.

The first two days we worked on her big storage room and food storage room. We got it very organized and she was so happy to not have to worry about tripping over things.

She told me after that she went down looking for something and since I just labeled everything, she said she was able to just go down and look at the shelves and find what she needed.

She is quilt old and a bit forgetful so I made sure that we had everything labeled. I know she told me she has been able to sleep better knowing that the basement is cleaned out.

I made a video of how we organized it and I thought I would share how I organized it. Hopefully I made it clear enough.

Have a Blessed Day!

My Favorite Wood Worker - Homemade Crib Beautiful Work

I've been helping my neighbor clean out her basement storage rooms for the past four days. I thought for sure I would finish today, but it seems like we start one room, closet, or shelf and then in order to put the stuff away, we need to clean out another area to put stuff from the first area.

We finished three closets this morning and then I had a Dr. apt and ate some dinner and went back coming home just before 11 p.m.

We have two storage rooms that we worked on today. The larger room, not much changed in that room as we had to clean other places to put the stuff. I went home to pick up several gorilla picture hanging hooks so I could hang some paintings that her parents did on the wall.

I was also looking for some screws and nuts to put together a cradle she inherited from her parents. I didn't have the right size, so will have to head to the store tomorrow and buy a few more to put it together so she can have it put together for her grandchildren's kids.

I went to look in her husbands workshop for some parts that matched what I needed, and I wasn't able to find any. I almost cried when I walked in and saw the finished (except stain and varnish) crib that he made for each of his grandchildren to have for their kids.

He made one for each. The last grand-daughter isn't married,u but he wanted to finish making her one and was working on that last project when he fell and then wasn't able to live at home any longer.

It is such a beautiful crib, he did such a wonderful job with it! I love it so much! I was also able to see the four wood beds he made in the basement and he made lamps and some dressers as well. There were end tables and this wonderful gun hutch in the storage room I finished cleaning out today.

We have one last storage room for tomorrow and I am praying I can finish it all and be done with it soon. It needs to be finished as I won't be able to help her while Princess five and I are in quarantine when she returns from NY.

I told her today that we can finish her house tomorrow, and then when Princess Five wants to get out in quarantine and work in the yard, we can plant any flowers she wants to purchase if she tells us from the door of the house where she wants us to plant them. She got so excited because she can't squat or bend well anymore and wanted flowers in her yard.

I need to do both my house / basement and re-landscape the front beds and put in new plants etc. It would be really enjoyable to have a finished home and yard, but I know I am able to help her in ways she can't do for herself so I enjoyed spending time with her today and had a few signs from my mom in the past few days with rainbows, and found two items with her name on them in her house and no one in their house has my mothers name, so I don't know why they were in her home, but I have just found that when I am doing good things, I get little signs sharing that I am on the right path.

I found more money today while cleaning as well, reminding me to Trust in God! Stay safe and have a Blessed Day!
