Sit-itus and a Fun Table Find

I have fallen asleep about 20 times just sitting looking at the screen. I need to go to bed. I thought I would share this cool table I found for $15.

Princess Two said she would like the table for her place so we will figure out if she wants it painted or refinished.

Have a blessed day!

Indoor Garage Sale - Selling Online Sometimes Works

I am trying to clean out the house as I will have Princess Four moving her stuff home after she graduates with her Bachelors degree. She has applied and been accepted to be a service missionary in a small island in the south pacific.

I will share more about that situation in the future but I am in a bit of a panic because her entire apartment needs to come to my house. At about the same time she comes home and then leaves for her mission, Princess Five will be coming home from her mission. This means, I will have both of their items in the garage stored for their college apartments and then need to drag out Princess Fives apartment so she can head back to college before Princess Four gets back from her service mission.

In trying to clean out the house, I have been collecting boxes of stuff for a yard sale. I realize that with all the girls coming and going, I probably won't have time to have a yard sale and I need the space to store all of the apartment stuff until Princess Four returns from her service mission.

I decided to put some of the smaller thing stored in the garage online in local yard sale pages today. I was pleasantly surprised that I sold quite a few items and made $70 today. I am hoping to sell more in the next few days so that I can have a place to stack Princess Four stuff in a few weeks.

Have a Blessed day!

The World Is Ending - Princess Five in NY

This week was another wild one!

We had transfer calls this week and I'm staying in New City, but I'm getting a new companion tomorrow, her name is Hermana Stow!

Some fun things that happened this week:

•as we were contacting a man on the corner of a busy street, a bus driver starting talking to us over his bus speaker while he was turning, he said, "you're doing awesome ladies, sharing the word of God, that's great, keep up the good work, the world's going to end."

•we were video chatting a friend who speaks English and he was talking about how he thinks he cant sing and he would rather hum at church, he said," why cant it just be a "humm" book, because then we wouldn't have to sing, it wouldn't be that hard you'd just have to change the spelling a little bit on the cover of the book."

•we stopped by a house on valentine's to visit a man that had told us before to come by later, he let us into his entry way to share a quick scripture, but before we did we asked if anyone else was home that would like to hear it, so he poked his head in and asked if his wife would like to hear it, and she said sure, we walked in and we visited with them for a while, we were able to talk a little bit about the book of mormon, and they were really excited to hear our message. They said they would love for us to come back and gave us some chocolate covered strawberries before we left, it was super sweet. Hopefully we will see them again soon!

We had a goal as a zone to contact 20 people everyday per companionship. It ended up being really fun! We did a lot of street contacting and we talked to a lot of interesting people who had little interest in our message, but it felt good to be sharing it any way!

I want to share with you my new favorite scripture from the Book of Mormon I found this week, it's from 2 Nephi 10:23 it says:

23 Therefore, cheer up your hearts, and remember that ye are free to act for yourselves—to choose the way of everlasting death or the way of eternal life.

I hope you all choose for yourselves this week to do something to move forward on the way to eternal life!

Oh The Frustration of It All - Google Issues Won't End

I can not tell you how many hours I have spend dealing with google issues in the past two years. I have had a problem with my blog for two years now, since google started ramping up their analytics.

I got a text.file code error for my blog and my income dropped over 75%. I have made almost nothing on my blog with 2500 posts in the last 2 years. I spent HOURS and hours trying to figure out how to insert the ad text with horrible help sites and kept getting redirected to the same pages.

I FINALLY today, was able to find ONE video on how to do it and it literally took me five minutes or less. I watched many videos on it before, read their tutorials, followed link after link. Posted some code in my page, and on and on.

I am not quite sure it fixed the problem, but my guess is it will. I have to wait 24 hours before the changes can take effect. However, I made four times the money today than I did yesterday, so my thought is that the fix worked.

However, I am still having no success from YouTube linking to the google console because I signed up with a different email on YouTube ten years ago but I changed the contact to my current email and it won't allow me to link my YouTube pages to my web pages. So, that is one current and ongoing issues I am having with google.

The other issue I am having is that google ads doesn't like free web pages so if you use a Wix or WordPress site, it won't allow you to put ads on the site until you buy a domain name for it. I purchased one through another site and then found that I had to purchase a premium package on Wix to be able to forward a domain name. So, I have the domain at one place and Wix has the site but I guess Google ads won't allow me to post ads on the Wix page without listing it because I am routing the domain through another site. So, I have spent the better part of the day trying to figure out how to Link ads to the Wix pages.

I really wonder how I will figure this all out. Some days I want to just give it all up, but I realize that by posting all this, people can find the pages and may someday we can find a cure for the awful illness draining people of life.

I wish I could just hire someone to figure it all out. I also spent 2 days working on YouTube trying to figure out their new analytics. I think I am getting a better understanding of it all, but you have to search lots of links for each new video taking even more time.

I think all the staring at the screen gave me a whopper of a headache and I was in bed all of Friday, and until midnight on Saturday fighting it. Nothing worked and I haven't had coke in two weeks so didn't want to start drinking that again. So, I am super tired and have Sit-itus going on. I have fallen asleep probably 20 times writing this.

Have a Blessed Day!

Easiest and Fast Way to Remove Sticky, Gum, Gummy, Gooey Stuff off Anything

For so many years now, I have used turpentine / kerosene to remove anything sticky. I wish I had known about it years ago when my kids were little. I now keep a bottle of it in my kitchen to use for so many things.

I use it for taking off tape that has melted onto items. I use it when tape has gotten hard and is difficult to remove. I use it to take price tags off items. I use it to take "fun tak" off this frame that I used. I use the Fun Tack to hold down all my picture frames in case of an earthquake.

We had an earthquake once that made all my frames go crooked and it wasn't a large quake. I thought that if we had a large quake, that may take all the pictures off the walls. Since then, I always use "Fun Tak" to stick the bottom corners to the wall.

I also now use it to stick all the decorative items on the shelves I have in the home as well. I have heard that in earthquake situations, many people end up getting cuts on their feet running from the house. I know that putting those things on with Fun Tak won't prevent everything falling in a large quake, but it will maybe keep the lighter glass items from falling.

Anyway, with using the Fun Tak on the frames, sometimes they get sticky so using this trick helps get the sticky off.

I made a video showing how I got the sticky left behind on the frame using the kerosene on the back. It works like a charm.

Have a Blessed Day!

When Helping Isn't Helping - Even Older Moms Can Learn New Things

Many years ago, I would stay at a family members home when traveling to family events. I would take my five children in tow. We would usually stay for a weekend.

When visiting someone, I always want to do as much as I can for myself and always clean up after by changing sheets, cleaning the bathroom etc. My mother always taught me to leave a place cleaner than when I entered.

I would often stay up late in the night cleaning rooms, doing dishes, organizing things, etc. To this day, I still do that, because I don't like to sit down during the day, because I fall asleep when sitting. I have even named the situation "Sit-itus" because it happens all the time when I sit. I have several blog posts on the situation. Here is a link to the first one about it.

I just keep pushing through the day so I can sleep better at night. I am also someone that likes to organize things. I have the type of mind that wants to "connect" things, so when I was helping my dad this summer with his knee surgery gone wrong, I helped his wife do some jobs that were a bit hard for a petite older person. I took down the arbor which was one of the dirtiest jobs I have ever done. I helped her organize her food storage room, and I collected all my fathers history from around the house and garage and organized it by date / event and went and scanned all of it.

I have to say that I haven't taken the time to put it all back in order in the scans as I had to do it all on different scanners, but it is fairly organized and just needs a few days of hard time to get it so that it is a fully organized picture of his life, including schooling, mission, family, work, service, travel, and family history. I love that I was able to help him heal, and at the same time, use my time there wisely helping my step-mom (name only as I love her like a mother) and my dad in several areas of their lives. As a side note, I got the cutest text from my "mom" today saying "I miss you everyday!" Just sharing why I LOVE this woman!

Anyway, I learned something over the years. Certain people do NOT like help. Their home is the way it is for a reason. It took me years to figure out why my family member had a little melt down with me staying there at times.

When I would do all the dishes in the sink each night, her children LOVED it. I was saving them from having to do their chores. I am the type of person who likes the sink empty and clean at the end of the night, so I assumed that others did as well.

Each time I would get the dishes done, she would start pulling out baking pans and make huge amounts of dishes. It didn't matter what time of day or night I finished all the dishes, she would FILL the sink and counters with dishes before going to bed.

I am actually surprised at how long it took me to figure out what the issue was. It was almost like it was a frenzy to fill the sink. The more I did the dishes, the more irritated and stressed she would become.

Years later, after some other things happening, I realized that to her, if people came in and saw all sorts of dishes in the sink and pans on the counter, she was a good mom! She was cooking home cooked meals and interesting things and she wanted people to know it. If I did the dishes, she wouldn't have a visual proof for people visiting that she cooked or baked. She LIKED and felt COMFORTABLE with a sink full of dishes! It was a badge of honor for her.

I stopped doing the dishes and helping out as much around the house. Her kids started to make comments about how when we used to come, the liked it because I would do the dishes and clean the house. If I did the chores, she didn't have a reason to get after the kids. I think she LIKED having a reason to connect with the kids, even if it was in that way. I finally had to explain to some of the children why I stopped doing their chores. They understood that and my relative really calmed down about us staying when I stopped doing her dishes. I did feel sad for the children as we brought and made lots of dirty dishes and work for them. Where as they used to enjoy the visits, they then became burdensome to the kids, so we stopped going much as that became more of an issue for the children.

Fast forward to when my eldest started having children. I figured it is a mom's job to help out. I didn't have a mother that would do anything to help when she came to visit, I would have to wait on her. So, I decided I was going to be a "helpful" mother. I would clean the house each time I went. I would fix broken things, work in the yard, scour the bathroom, and do laundry. I would always make sure that there were NO pans in the sink. Over several visits, I could tell things were not going well. I don't sit, and so I was always looking for something to do.

I have a friend I go walking with and I was sharing the situation I am sharing on this post. She said, "When I was a young mom, my mother would always come and clean my house. It made me feel like she was saying I wasn't a good house keeper, or a good mother. But, I got over myself after a few kids and LOVED it when she would come help me clean and take care of the kids!" It finally clicked in my head what may be the problem when visiting Princess One.

I asked Princess One on my next visit, and she shared that she didn't like it when I cleaned her house. She just wanted me there to help and play with the kids! I used to cook most of the meals, do the dishes, fix things, etc. keeping busy the entire day, as well as playing with the kids, WHICH I LOVE. I ENJOY working! The last two times I have visited Princess One's family, I didn't clean anything. I didn't do the dishes, or cook the meals unless asked. If the kids were busy, I would sit down and usually fall asleep, which I didn't like, but at least I wasn't upsetting the situation.

I always take several boxes of activities to play with the kids. I try to make it fun for them by pulling something new out to play with every few hours so they don't get board of the same things. I have about 12 boxes now of different aged activities that I can take and do with them. They love it, and I enjoy getting to spend time with them and even though I am sometimes looking for something to keep me busy, I just sit and play a game on my phone, which isn't something I do very often.

Lesson and moral, ASK first before "helping" as what you think is helping, may actually be really offensive to the host!

Have an organized and joyously blessed day!

Best Way To Get and Store CEU Credits For Non-Working Registered Nurses

I have a Registered Nurse License which I have had for nearly 25+ years. I worked on and off over many years as a nurse doing Osteo floor, Emergency Room, Labor and Delivery, and general floor work.

I always wanted to be a nurse from the time I was hospitalized at an early age with many surgeries. One of my first memories was a nursing kit. I remember getting into trouble as a child for putting all the family band-aids onto my doll. It really is one of my first memories.

I thought about teaching when I was headed to college, but my spouse talked me into nursing saying I would always have a job. I think teaching probably would have worked better for a single mother, but it is true that in nursing, there are many jobs available.

When I had my last daughter, life became so hectic that I didn't go back into working at the hospital. I just couldn't juggle five kids in different schools and working a 12 hour shift. I would leave just after they got home and ate and early dinner, or I would leave before school and having two younger children still not in school, it was much to hard to do those type of shifts.

I always just wanted to do "fill in" work when they needed extra people, but they weren't allowing that at our hospital at the time. They would offer it to part time workers instead.

In any type of licensed field, you usually have to do some type of continuing education units, or CEU's. Dentist, Doctors, Nurses, Massage Therapists etc.

I have kept my license current by doing these CEU credits. It is interesting that the longer a profession has had the requirement of CEU's, the cheaper the CEU's become. In Massage, the CEU's are about $100 for each 10 credits. In nursing, you can find the entire amount of credits you need for $20 and up.

I have found however, that by using the same company for each batch of credits, that I don't have to file the CEU's anywhere, but can just leave them on the website. They track them and I can remember which I have done already. I like that they also have an area where you can store and save CEU's you have completed in different ways so they are all stored together. It is really handy having it in one place rather than having to remember all the different sites, passwords etc.

Thought I would share about it here as it really has been a good thing for me and I have liked the courses they offer even though it may be a bit more than other sites.

Have a Blessed day!
