This Duct Tape cape was made at girls camp by a friend. She just layered the tape onto the one next to it making it twice as long as she wanted the cape and then folded it over onto itself. She made it reversible so that there is a letter on one side and nothing on the other so others could wear it. She gave it to my daughter after camp for "Duct Tape Day" during spirit week.
It didn't have any way to attach other than taping it to your shirt so we came up with a tie made out of tape ripped in half and folded onto itself making thin strips so that it could be tied.
My youngest liked the collar look so we taped the straps down lower but my fourth princess is a bit larger and so it looked small on her when she wore it for the pictures. However, it does fit the youngest well. I would add a few rows if it were for an older person so that it would hang better.
You can also just tape it or punch a hole and use tied ribbon to keep it on. I thought this could be fun for a school spirit cape and use the opposing teams color to make a circle with a slash through it for each different game or something.
It is easy to make and fun to look at! You could make a magician for Halloween by putting black duct tape around a dowel and then white on the ends for the wand. Make the cape out of the black and red tape and a bow tie and suspenders. I bet you could even make a magic hat out of the black tape.
Enjoy doing it whatever you choose.
