A SPARKLING New Year Wish

Princess Five has wanted to do another night photo shoot with sparklers since our fun fourth of July photo shoot. Click here to see that post. 

I went out the week after the fourth and bought a large bag of sparklers so we could try doing it again. 


Time passed and we got busy with life and moving people to colleges and family reunions etc. 

Princess five had a friend come over and they dressed up cute. We have had snow for two days in a row and the temperature is LOW. 


She asked where I put the sparklers and as funny as it is, I didn't remember until a day or two ago, I wondered about a bag hanging in the garage on a hook and saw them there just last week when we had everyone home. 


She found the sparklers with no problem but lighting them in such cold with a wind wasn't easy. 

We went through three of the longer lighters for candles or fireplaces and finally, "luminere" lighter by Bic was the one that would light in the cold temps. 

A few of the others worked every fifteenth time but the Bic one worked almost every time.

It took a few tries on the longer words and the shorter words are more easily written as you don't have to move to draw out the word as you can't go over the same space twice. 

One the longer words, you just take a small step with each letter. You also have to keep the sparkler moving or you get a bright light in one spot so circles or waving it back and forth underneath works best.
