Domesticating Spain - Princess Six
I have domesticated Princess number 6. I think this is a good thing. She seems to be smiling lots while doing all the domestic things so I am guessing she is happy about it.
Last week, we started her on something easy. We gave her the hat looms that the girls use to make hats to donate to charity. Here are some links to a few posts about that.Part one and Part two.
She worked on it for a few days and finished it. I thought it would be cute with a flower on it and showed her how to make a flower and she chose a few buttons to put in the center.
Then, Princess number 5 showed her the little travel pillows I made for them a few years ago and she wanted to make herself one. I cut out the fabric, (bet you can't guess by looking at the pillow and hat she made what her favorite color is!) and traced her name onto it and showed her how to back stitch so she could write her name on it.
She picked up on that quickly but is a bit worried about the stitch length being uniform. She will figure out really soon that it doesn't matter much. It adds character.
I also then showed her how to crochet a blanket using the large needle and three strands of yarn at a time. This has been the hardest thing for her to pick up but she is getting the hang of it quickly.
She once again picked a blue but my yarn is limited as far as having enough to make a blanket as you need lots to make this blanket so she was limited to the colors I had many of that matched. Here is a link to how I make those afghans. Part one and Part two.
She also had the opportunity to go into a book mobile today. She had never seen one. I had princess five escort her to that new and exciting moving library. I remember checking books out of one when I was VERY young.
She had the blessing of getting a pedicure this week from me as we did our pedicure night. She chose red, white, and blue for her toes with lots of stars and sparkles. I gave her a set of the hat looms to take home and will send the crochet hook with her. She will have lots to keep her busy when she gets home. :-)
