Blessings While Packing for Thailand

This weekend, we went and packed Princess Four's humanitarian bag for Thailand.

Each person going on the service mission takes one personal bag and one bag for humanitarian. They all got donations and put them in groups according to what the donation was. Most of the donations were medical or hygiene related.

They also had lots of crock shoes donated and then they had school supplies, fabric and cultural items.

Once everything was organized, each person going gets a sturdy duffel bag and loads it to as close to 50 pounds as they can hoping they can fit everything donated to the group.

They weren't able to fit in everything and had about twenty boxes left of mostly medical supplies and new born baby kits someone had put together. The reason those didn't get packed is that the kits took up space but weren't heavy so it didn't make sense to pack them. If the groups had left everything in piles or boxes and the group could have packaged them there, they probably all would have gone.

These are all things that you learn once you have done these humanitarian missions a few times.

The group finished their meeting and got a group pictures and headed off. They were going to have everyone take a box to a second hand store and donate it but I called my brother who is the acting president for a humanitarian group that deals mostly in South America and asked if he wanted the items for one of their missions. He said he would come get it and they could sort through it and donate to anther group anything that they couldn't use.

Last month, my brothers organization shipped an ambulance full of medical supplies to a country in South America. He does it all volunteer without pay and I thought it was such a blessing that I was there helping as no other parents stayed to help. If I hadn't, all those supplies would have dispersed or gotten thrown out as the group that does the youth groups doesn't have any storage space and each group gets their own donations so it all worked out well in the end.

My brother pulled up with a trailer right as we were about to leave and two of his sons helped us load the trailer and the best part is that their storage facility was only a mile or two away which is such a coincidence but if you read my blog much, you know I don't believe in those. :-) I just know God is watching out for all His children and wanted that stuff to go to help a few more in another country.
